For whatever reason, I have been hearing a lot about
training with heart rate monitors. Although I do not personally own one, I completely agree with the concept of continuous monitoring. Basically, by constantly monitoring your heart rate during a workout, you can tell what you really need to work on. Also, they promote the idea of
"effort-level" training (versus trying to maintain a particular pace), which might be more valuable for
exercising in the heat and humidity. Here is a
review of some "less expensive" heart rate monitors.
