Laughercise: repetitious "mirthful laughter" that causes the body to respond in a way similar to moderate physical exercise. Laughercise enhances your mood, decreases stress hormones, enhances immune activity, lowers bad cholesterol and systolic blood pressure, and raises good cholesterol (HDL).
And no, I didn't make that up! Apparently, the notion that laughter has health benefits was first proposed by Norman Cousins in the 70s. This most recent work was conducted by Dr. Berk's group at Loma Linda University. Who would have guessed that my claim that I never had to do a sit-up because laughing was enough of a core workout might actually have some scientific credence?!? Have a good day everyone... and laugh a little! #20
